How To Perform Arlo Security Camera Setup?

Arlo setup is a process that is divided into four parts. Follow the parts in the correct order to successfully set up Arlo Camera.

Arlo Base Station Setup

Arlo Base Station is the unit that connects your home network to Arlo security cameras, and it is a unit without which you can’t expect your Arlo cameras to work. So, install Arlo Base Station to carry out a successful Arlo Pro2 setup.

Steps for Installing Arlo Base Station:

  1. Connect Arlo Base Station to your router via an Ethernet cable.
  2. Plugin the power cord to the power port of Arlo Base Station with its other end going into the power outlet. Turn the switch on to turn on the Arlo Base Station.
  3. On your Arlo Base Station, there will be an on/off button, which you will have to press.
  4. Wait until the power & internet LED light goes green.
  5. When both the LEDs are green, your Base Station is set up.

How To Set Up And Sync Arlo Cameras?

First, you need to create an account with Arlo. You can do this by going to Arlo’s website and clicking on the “Create Account” link. After that, you can put up the details and set up your Arlo account. Once you have made your account, you can log in and set up your Arlo cameras.

Next, you will need to download the Arlo app. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. Once you have downloaded the app, open it and sign in with the same username and password you used to create your account on Arlo’s website.

Pair your camera(s) to the Arlo app

Now that you are logged in, it is time to start setting up your Arlo cameras. The first step is to add a camera. To do this, open the Arlo app and tap on the “Cameras” tab at the bottom of the screen. There you will find a list of your existing cameras. Tap on the camera you want to add and tap “Add camera.” You can either select the camera from the list or type in its serial number.

When you are prompted to enter your Wi-Fi information, make sure to select the correct network and enter your password.

Once your Wi-Fi information is entered, give your camera a name and press Finish to complete the Arlo setup.

Syncing Arlo Wireless Cameras

  1. The procedure begins with placing the Arlo Base station and Arlo Camera in proximity, around 100 cm from each other.
  2. Press the‘ Sync’ button for a couple of seconds, which you can find on the side of Arlo Base Station.

Note: Don’t press the sync button for too long, as it may result in the USB LED blinking amber, which indicates the blocked syncing of cameras.

  1. You will have to wait until you see a green light on the sync status LED.
  2. You will see a ‘Sync’ button on the camera, so press it for a couple of seconds.
  3. You will see a blue LED blinking on the camera, which confirms the syncing process. If the LED blinks amber, the sync is unsuccessful, so you’ll have to repeat the process.
  4. A solid green light on the camera LED on the Arlo Base station means completing the sync process.
  5. The process remains the same for other cameras.

Note: If the Arlo camera doesn’t sync with Base Station doesn’t complete within a minute, then you will have to press the sync button provided on the Arlo Base Station and try the entire process again.

Set Up Modes:

The Arlo camera setup mode is known for setting and controlling automated actions. These modes allow you to monitor your camera without doing Arlo log in.

There are two configuration modes of the Arlo cameras :

All motion on method: If this mode is turned on, you will see a motion sensor being turned on at all times without changing the Arlo camera sensitivity setting. Therefore, any motion detected by the camera will trigger the camera to record a video clip, followed by sending the same to an email account of the person having the main account on Arlo.

All motion off mode: No motion sensors will be active in this mode, and there won’t be any video recording or motion alerts to send via email.

2: How To Check Arlo Camera’s Battery Status?

Arlo cameras work on battery power, which makes the batteries installed on the cameras extremely important. If the batteries are low energy, the cameras won’t work efficiently.

To check the status of the Arlo camera’s battery, follow these steps:

  1. Perform Arlo login on the computer by visiting the my.Arlo.com webpage.
  2. Go to ‘Menu’ and then click ‘Device Settings.’

4: How To Restore An ‘Offline Arlo Base Station’?

Arlo Base Station has an internet LED on the front, which helps in knowing whether the Base Station is online or not. If you see a solid green light on the internet LED, it means the base station is connected to the internet; if you see amber light, it means the base station isn’t connected to the internet.

To fix it, follow the below-mentioned steps:

  1. Check if the Ethernet cable is connected to the back of the Arlo Base Station and your router.
  2. Check if the Base Station is connected to the power outlet.
  3. Try connecting from one of your devices connected to your router.
  4. Power cycle the Arlo Base Station by removing the power supply and then connecting it back to the power outlet after a minute or so. The base station takes a couple of minutes to start.
  5. The power & internet LED light will glow solid green, which means the base station is connected to the internet. If it is amber, then continue with the below-mentioned steps.
  6. Make sure to enable DHCP and confirm that the DHCP client of the router delivers an IP address to the base station.
  7. If you can’t connect to the internet but can connect previously, check the router’s firmware and security settings to ensure no changes are made.
  8. At last, the factory reset your Arlo Base Station. The ‘Reset’ button is located on the back of Arlo Base Station, so press and hold it using a pointed object for 7-10 seconds. The LEDs on the front of the base station will flash amber light for a few moments, after which, the base station will reboot and reset to default settings. After that, you must visit the www.arlo.com login page and enter your credentials. If the Arlo login page is not working, you should try a different web browser or check your internet connection.

5: Why can’t I log into my Arlo Account?

You cannot log into your Arlo account at the Arlo.netgear.com account page for many reasons. Specific settings in your browser might be corrupt. You can often solve the issue by restarting the web browser. If that doesn’t work, you should restart your computer and visit the Arlo login page to log into your account.
